Just been to the tip and noticed smoke and steam heading south under Imberhorne lane bridge. Didn't get a chance to see what the loco was, but it was hauling a few carriges.

Loco was 92212 hauling 6 southern coaches. I was on my way to a model railway show just down the road & pulled in to sainsburys to use cash machine & saw the steam. They must be route learning etc, there were markings on the platform & sleepers to show the crew where to stop. Stayed until train left then came back & it was there again running round the coaches, I expect someone will post it on utube later.

Yes, unfortunately I was given no advance warning and as I can't camp out all the time missed it - sorry. Most despondent and surprised it was done on a weekend, very surprised.

You'll get more chance tomorrow and the end of the week if you're in the right place at the right time.

Not your fault Robert, lack of info from the people we support.

Obvious day to do training runs - not everyone is retired like you, Robert. The publicity is all about 23rd, when people can actually ride on the trains. Anyway, Robert, I'm sure your paranoya means you think they ran it at a weekend especially to annoy you!

I sometimes wonder if some members of certain other forums have very short memories or just like to play dumb. Some time ago I commented on the safety aspects of people standing on Imberhorne Lane bridge and even mentioned that we were clipped by a passing van, despite wearing orange jackets. I was shouted down (of course). Now all of a sudden some see a video of what has been happening for many, many months and everyone gets excited. You may also remember that I mentioned that a local landowner was interested in starting a tea room /car park in the area. Now someone else has grabbed that idea. You really should all read the archives. ;-)

My video is now on line. It was raining quite hard and I don't claim to be the world's best videographer but enjoy if you want. I must try and get hold of an hydraulic platform to see over that fence! Taken on Sunday at noon by the way. Rob.

yes video on youtube now just seen it remember some peeps get the info some dont very clicky this railway has become in the past few weeks Those that get the info are the loco crew, the guards and the signalman to enable them to complete their training prior to the official opening, without these runs, there wouldn't be any staff to make sure you lot have a good day next weekend! If you're not one of these people, and in no need to be trained then the attitude of need to know is a little lost, it's not a photo charter nor is it anything official. Yes, momentous occasion of the first trains on the extension, but because of the hype already, it's beginning to put a bit of a damper on the official opening as people have seen it already. But seeing as you all think you're ought to know, there are 10 trains up there Thursday, and a further 8 on Friday.

The tamper should be doing its stuff on Monday or Tuesday such that the staff training trains later in the week should be able to run up the bank at full speed (rather than the reduced speed currently in force).

Assuming you are right and are not winding me up I shall certainly try to be in the area to get a picture or two - thanks. IF you are winding me up then I have fallen for it and shall be sitting in the snow waiting. Snow? Yes that is what the weather man has just predicted, but it won't settle. Just like there is no hurricane forecast.

yes video on youtube now just seen it remember some peeps get the info some dont very clicky this railway has become in the past few weeks Absolute rubbish - being a working volunteer on the Bluebell is a club which all are welcome to join (subject to certain restrictions due to safety considerations); not a clique. The more you put in, the more you get out. There are loads of benefits from being a working member, not least the feeling of having helped achieve something bigger than any individual could achieve on their own. Details of how to join in (and so get more out) is at: www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/vol/vbbb01.htm
