GLVMR, who describes the 20 mins plus video production; "Snow, Rain & Cold air fell on this historic day but did not destroy bluebell spirits. The First day of services to East grinstead enjoy
" I definitely did and you will too. Well edited with crystal clear video production, plus a 65 second finish of still photographs taken during the day. Encapsulates the spirit of the day.
Opening Day at East Grinstead!, 23/03/13www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB2AoeE80A0&list=UUdSBU6kBY4zzNACj-C2YltQ&index=1A John Sandys video, but it doesn't indicate whether it was the first train out of East Grinstead Station. John shows a 'roving view' around the East Grinstead Station, as he moves around the walkways into and out of the carriages without turning the camera off. It feels as if you are there and really does give a good perspective of the East Grinstead Station layout.
The first train to depart East Grinstead on the Bluebell Railway.www.youtube.com/watch?v=URGdxYD5L_sLiked the camera work, which caught the mood of the crowd cheering and the waving flag. Note the crowds watching on the other side of the fence. If the weather had been better, there might have been even more... Maybe, the snow was a blessing in disguise, who knows!
2013 "The Pioneer" - First Bluebell Railway train out of East Grinsteadwww.youtube.com/watch?v=iuRvxHjhDl0The clip shows the train coming up the straight from Kingscote towards the cutting. Then the second part shows the train returning from East Grinstead Station. There is plenty of steam, snow and whistles galore!!
First train south from East Grinstead for 55 years reaches Horsted Keynes Bluebell Station.www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_go-Gp-sZ0&feature=youtu.beRobert Philpot does a good job here, editing the video of the train coming into Horsted Keynes. Robert pans around the locomotive, with the fire burning brightly and there is also a shot of the steam engine driver or assistant appearing to level the coal in the trains storage area. You briefly see a 'hardy soul', wearing virtually nothing but a couple of T-shirts in the freezing conditions! Robert videos the train departing southwards. A nice montage of many clips, with plenty of steam, that follows well from the other video clips above.
No. 55 'Stepney' - Brake van ridewww.youtube.com/watch?v=H8qsKAr6ptYAs the description for the You Tube clip mentions; "A ride behind No. 55 'Stepney' at Horsted Keynes on the Bluebell Railway for the first day of their opening ceremony for the East Grinstead project, 23rd March 2013. Includes the passing of No. 323 'Bluebell' + No. 473 twice, along with the very timely simultaneous departure of 9F No. 92212." The clip has been edited or filmed, so at 1:04 time, the train which has just left Horsted Keynes, comes into Horsted Keynes from the Ardingly Branch line... Lots of steam, passing trains and plenty of waves!!
Bluebell line steam train leaving East Grinstead on opening day 23rd March 2013www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKPeHTwyiTsVideo taken from the first bridge over the cutting coming southwards out from East Grinstead. The video isn't crystal clear, but the camera work is good, as the cameraman keeps the recording going with the camera being panned across the bridge to record the trains journey deeper into the cutting.
Double headed steam train arriving at East Grinstead on Bluebell opening day 23rd March 2013www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGEiozGLUYAVideo taken from the second bridge over the cutting coming SOUTHWARDS out from East Grinstead (The description on You Tube appears to be incorrect). The video isn't crystal clear, but the camera work is good, as the cameraman keeps the recording going with the camera being panned across the bridge to record the trains journey deeper into the cutting.
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Opening Part 1www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSi5Qt8cqJcHas the Official Bluebell logo at the beginning of the video. Good quality video, which starts with an initial long range shot of a train arriving at Horsted Keynes heading northwards. You then see the train leave Horsted Keynes to travel northwards. Next part of the film, shows the same train arriving at East Grinstead, followed by the shunting of the loco to get to the front of the train, before its exit from East Grinstead Station. The cameraman stays at East Grinstead to film another arrival of a different train, followed by the shunting and then its departure. Plenty of steam, crowds and cheers.
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Opening Part 2www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_WBGs3XJUAHas the Official Bluebell logo at the beginning of the video. Good quality video, which features some great track side camera work. Starts with a train exiting a tunnel on the Bluebell network. Then we have the pleasure to watch plenty of trains arriving, leaving and shunting around Horsted Keynes, at track side level at a location just north of Horsted Keynes Station. Half way through this nearly 16 minute video, the cameraman takes further track side panning shots of trains passing by at a variety of scenic countryside locations. Then, not content with that, the cameraman goes back to East Grinstead for another train arrival, shunting and departure. All in all, another action packed You Tube production, full of plenty of steam.
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Opening Part 3www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpH9mSeND5UHas the Official Bluebell logo at the beginning of the video. Good quality video showing yet another train arriving at East Grinstead. This time, we are treated to a shunting maneouvre and coupling procedure involving two smaller trains, which is great to see. The spectators in Sainsbury's car park think so too!
Then it is back to Horsted Keynes, where the cameraman again films a long range shot from a high vantage point, of a train leaving northwards towards Kingscote. The film finishes with panning shots of trains passing by, entering and exiting a tunnel on the Bluebell network. To be topped off by trains passing by in cuttings. Plenty of steam in action.
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Opening Festival Day One - Saturday 23rd March 2013www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VRDPgQrihYGood quality filming. Starts with shots of the trains passing through the snow lined Imberhorne cutting, with plenty of steam and high pitched whistles from the trains. The next part of the production takes place at Kingscote Station, where we see a train arriving from East Grinstead and then departing towards Horsted Keynes. In the northern bound platform stands another train, which leaves, before another train arrives going northwards. The cameraman then moves to Horsted Keynes Station, where we see a variety of panning shots of trains moving through and shunting around Horsted Keynes Station, with constant tannoy announcements at this very busy junction.
The Bluebell Railways Open day to celebrate the opening of the East Grinstead extension linewww.youtube.com/watch?v=bPsJz8u3aAoThe cameraman
Mike Craft publishes his production, with this explanation; "The Bluebell Railways Open day to celebrate the opening of the East Grinstead extension line. Weather for this fantastic day was not good, in fact it was absolutely freezing. Everyone who helped make this possible deserves a massive round of applause, and the supporters on the day deserve mentioning too! Hip Hip Hooray!!"
The opening sequence of the three and half minute clip, shows the freezing weather at East Grinstead Station, plenty of umbrellas and snow blowing in the wind! To cheer everybody up, the Bluebell Band 'pipes up' a good spirited tune, as they perform courageously under the cover of a marquee. Then we view the crowds waving as the train leaves East Grinstead with plenty of steam. Then another train arrives in the snow, but undaunted, the band strikes up another tune... It is still snowing and its freezing. The date is the 23rd March 2013, but it looks like December...
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Opening weekendwww.youtube.com/watch?v=SvX9QwRqZuYDescribed by the cameraman,
Nathan Gibson, simply as, "Footage of the first train departing East Grinstead, plus clips from various locations along the line." That description is an understatement, as this mammoth production lasts 27 and half minutes! The action starts as the train leaves East Grinstead, while the cameraman braves the cold and wind chill performing camera work out of the carriage window. With frozen fingers, action video of the cutting both directions, plus tunnel shots. Then its track side action, with long range shots of another train going through the newly opened cutting. This really is a great video to watch. Plenty of steam guaranteed! Did I say it lasts 27 and a half minutes?
Bluebell Railway East Grinstead opening Gala 23/3/2013www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhEd90QdNMYThis video has been shot wholly at Sheffield Park. The Cameraman films trains arriving and leaving, plus the shunting at the end of the line. No snow, so it could have been filmed on Day Two, although it has been dated the 23rd March 2013.
Bluebell Railway - 23rd March 2013 Completewww.youtube.com/watch?v=OtBWyuVSNRUStarting with some filming that pans round Horsted Keynes. Then a trip on the train to East Grinstead, where we view the shunting and return journey from East Grinstead, back to Horsted Keynes. Variety of shots then taken around Horsted Keynes Station as a finale.
